Of the approximate 10,000 MG TC’s built, this example from 1947 was one of the 3,500 that was initially shipped to the USA. After a period of 43 years living ‘across the pond’ it was repatriated to the UK in 1990.
It is a nice driving example that retains its original XPAG engine and 4-speed gearbox. In recent years the car has largely been on static display, though the history file does show some decent expenditure such as a new hood in 2021. This therefore presents very well, along with the perfectly worn red hide seats and door cards. The correct Lucas ‘Altette’ horn and fog light are present and on the correct side for a repatriated car. Both map lights (often missing) are also present and correct too on both sides of the dashboard.
The chassis and bodywork are excellent. The paint is a more contemporary metallic blue and the brightwork is largely very good. The grille slats clearly having been chromed in recent history and along with the radiator shroud consequently in good order. Recently purchased from an auction, the car has been recommissioned and a new water pump fitted.
Priced very realistically for todays market it is a good genuine example of the TC Midget which could either be used as-is, or taken to the next level cosmetically with very little grief.
