This elegant spat-wearing UK car is one of just 152 right hand drive XK120FHC’'s. It has a phenomenal wealth of history and has very evidently been cherished throughout its life. There are pictures in the history file going back to 1954 and every decade thereafter. The most recent custodian acquired the car in December 1998
A heritage certificate accompanies the documentation and confirms that it was ordered by the first owner in Birch Grey with red trim. There are photographs showing that by 1962 the car had been painted red and then upon being restored over a ten-year period in the 1980’s, Old English White, which is retained today. The red trim has remained throughout the car’s history. The interior has also been restored but has mellowed perfectly since.
The most recent custodian, a well-known member of the XK community, commissioned various extensive works. This included a bare-metal re-spray in 2010 and in 2015 fitting an uprated 3.4 litre ‘Sigma’ engine. The car is now equipped with a C-type cylinder head and twin 2” sand-cast SU carburettors. The Moss gearbox was overhauled at this time also and the work is shown to have cost £9,000. The front-brakes are now discs (Jaguar MKIX) and a Kenlowe fan has been fitted.
The car has been a frequent attendee of marque events throughout the UK and Europe and also featured on the Jaguar stand at the Motor Show in Geneva in 2024, depicting cars of notoriety and being akin to that of the launch car which featured at the 1951 motor show when the XK120 was unveiled. It does indeed therefore present very well.
The car has returned to Sigma engineering annually for servicing and has been serviced more locally in May 2025 also, so is ready for a new custodian. The car starts incredibly willingly and pulls very well indeed on the road. The gearbox (often derided) is very pleasant too.
